Covid-19 Update


Hawks Cay Resort has a longstanding commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our guests and staff. As we continue to assess and respond to the challenges facing all of us due to COVID-19, we remain steadfast in our commitment to our core values of safety and customer service.

We have reopened the resort to welcome guests back to our tropical island paradise, but there have been changes to the guest experience to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone on property. The following health and safety protocols, which meet all guidelines issued by public health agencies and the American Hotel Lodging Association, have been put in place to ensure that every precaution is taken to keep each guest safe while still providing an unforgettable stay. As we all adjust to these new protocols, we ask for your patience as some of these policies may evolve to best meet the needs of our guests while adhering to provided guidelines.

Hawks Cay Guest

  • Social Distancing: All guests and staff members must limit the potential of physical contact as much as possible. Additionally, the front desk, restaurants, pool, and public areas require guests to practice social distancing with 6 feet of separation. Visual guides are present for proper spacing.
  • Face Masks: Monroe County requires that facial coverings are worn in public indoor spaces and outdoor covered areas unless consuming food or beverages. Face masks are not required when outside if social distancing measures are maintained unless speaking with another person who is not of your personal party (i.e. resort staff or other guests).
  • Hand Hygiene: Proper and frequent hand washing is required to help combat the spread of germs and viruses. Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the Resort.
  • Guest Wellness Any guest who appears ill will not be permitted to enter the Resort or any of its on-property facilities. We encourage guests who are not feeling well to visit Hawks Cay at another time.

Hawks Cay Staff

  • Staff Wellness: Hawks Cay staff members undergo a daily temperature screening. Each staff member displays a sticker on their nametag to indicate they have been cleared to work and serve guests.
  • Public Spaces: The frequency of cleaning and disinfecting all public spaces has increased with a focus on counters, elevators and the buttons therein, door handles, public bathrooms, and the wristbands we provide our guests.
  • Ongoing Training: The housekeeping team receivies ongoing training to meet new cleaning and hygiene protocols. Additionally, the entire staff has completed enhanced COVID-19 awareness training.
  • Face Masks: All Hawks Cay staff members are required to wear face masks while at the Resort. Depending on position, various staff members are also required to wear gloves, hair restraints, and additional personal protective equipment.

General Resort

  • Modified Housekeeping Services: All guestrooms are cleaned, sanitized, and sealed prior to guest arrival. Hotel staff will not re-enter any guestroom once a guest has checked-in unless a special request, such as to receive fresh towels, has been made.
  • Dining: Menus are offered at all dining outlets in a digital format or accessible via personal smartphone. Our restaurants are open with limited seating and/or take-out options.  Please check with us upon arrival for a schedule of hours for each restaurant as they may change.
  • Pools: All swimming pools are open except for the Pirate Ship Pool and all hot tubs, which will remain closed indefinitely.
  • Activities and Programming: Outdoor programming for children and families is available at Coral Cay. Additionally, the sunset cruise, which is operated by Sole Watersports, is available with limited seating to meet social distancing requirements. 
  • Calm Waters Spa The spa is currently closed.
  • Parking: Valet parking is not available. All vehicles can be self-parked at any one of the designated parking lots.
  • Transportation: The resort tram is operating with reduced seating.
  • Group Meetings: Meetings and events follow all social distancing requirements.

We understand this may cause some inconveniences, but please be patient while we continue to make updates as guidelines are revised.
