April Showers Bring May Flowers...05/22/2012

We are finally getting to our normal Spring/Summertime fishing. The winds have been calm, the waters are warm, and the fish are happy! I have had the pleasure to fish with some excellent clients over the last few days with the excitement of catching our classic flats species: the tarpon, bonefish, and permit along with pretty much everything that swims in our near shore waters around Hawks Cay Resort and Duck Key! My large supply of Gamakatzu Hooks and SPRO lures have held up to the pressures of the 20 to 30 lbs Permit and the Jumbo 100+ pound Tarpon! I am super impresses with these hooks and lures and I am proud to say I am on their Pro Staff Team! I am very excited to be working with the Gamakatsu group! Finally mother nature has backed down her winds and is letting the sun shine! After what feels like an eternity of wind and rain we are finally getting back to our spring weather of calm seas and bright skys. Todays winds are down to 13kts from the 25kts+ we have had over the last 2 or so weeks. And they should improve down to below 5kts as the week rolls on. I am super excited to see how the fishing explodes with the improvement in our weather and water tempertures. Fishing report to be posted by the end of next week. Get out there and enjoy our spring weather!

Get out there and enjoy our spring weather! The name of my boat says it all...Its "Tarpon Time" here in the florida keys! The beautiful Hawks Cay Resort is home to some of the best Tarpon Fishing in the world! The fish are stacked up at the bridges and on the banks. Over the last couple of weeks most of the fish being caught are in the 120 to 150 lbs range. These boys are monsters! If you dont have your trip booked you better get to it before these jumbos migrate away! We have roughly 6 weeks left of the Big Boys! But there are always a few resident fish we have year round in the 50 to 80 lbs range which still give you a great fight all the way until are waters cool off in November. So come one .....Come all.....Its Tarpon Time!

The spring fishing here around Hawks Cay Resort has arrived in full force. With big numbers of our most sought after gamefish like the Bonefish, Permit , and Tarpon!
