Lori asked :Jet ski rental Q:I read that if you are under 18 years old, you need to have a boat's safety card in order to rent?
A:Actually, Florida State Law states if they are under 18, they must ride with an adult (someone 22 or older), no exceptions. In order for an 18-21 year old to rent a jet ski to take out on their own (without someone older than 22 riding along) they have to have a safe boaters card, which is very easy to get. If they have an adult on the jet ski with them, there is no need for the card. Read over the manual they provide online, take the test that comes with it, and print out the certificate they award you with at the end. Kelly asked :Snorkeling Destinations Q:I'm curious about the destination you travel to snorkel?
A:We take our snorkel trips to a protected area of the reef called 'Coffin's Patch', or as some people call it, 'The Stake'. It's a good area to go because there is no anchoring on the reef, fishing on the reef, no touching the reef, and no taking anything from the reef, so it looks like it did 20 years ago. In the middle, where a large stake sticks out of the water, is only 6-7 feet deep, and gradually gets deeper as you get out to the ledge. There is an abundance of sealife out there, which makes it the ideal snorkel destination! Call us at 305 743 0145 to make a reservation!
David Theriot asked :Snorkel Equipment Q:Do you rent just snorkel equipment by the day or the week? If so, can you tell me the rate and if not, can you tell me if there is anywhere close to you that I can do that? Thanks and have a great weekend.
A:We only rent out our equipment if you rent out one of our water vessels. For example, if you rented one of our Grady Whites for a half day or full day we could include the gear with that, or if you rented one of our kayaks, we could include the gear with that. We would do the rentals then at $5 per set for the day or however long you did the vessel rental for. Dive Duck Key rents out equipment at any time, they're number is 305 289 4931.
Nichole Terry asked :Sunset Cruise Q:Do we need to make a reservation for a Sunset Cruise? We will be there August 4-9. Thanks.
A:You do need to make a reservation, and I recommend making a reservation once you get your schedule situated and you have an idea of the day you would like to go out. On average, most of the reservations come in the day before and the day of. The sooner you make the reservation, the better gaurantee you have for a spot. hannah23 asked :parasailing Q:My sister and I were interested in parasailing during our stay at the resort and we were wondering if we have to book a reservation for a ride if we wanted to go.
A:I would recommend booking once you have an idea of what day you would like to go. You can walk up if you would like, but it is not a guarantee that something will be available at that time. If you call to book a reservation we can guarantee you a spot! Give us a call at 305 743 0145!
Ed Scalice asked :Snorkel and SNUBA Reservations Q:I have reservations for Aug 22-24 and would like to plan a snorkel and/or SNUBA excursion. Do you offer this through the resort, if not who do you recommend and should I get reservations.
A:Here at Sundance Watersports, we offer snorkel excurisions Sunday through Thursday at 1:00 pm, Friday and Saturday 9:00am and 1:00pm. To inquire about SNUBA please call Dive Duck Key at 305-289-4931. We suggest making reservations as soon as possible because the snorkel trip fills fast. Our number here at Sundance is 305-743-0145. Fiona Fulford asked :Snorkeling Q:We are staying at Hawk's Cay next easter and are interested in snorkelling. Does your trip go to the John Pennekamp reef? How long do you get in the water? Is it suitable/ safe for 9 and 11 year olds - they are reasonable swimmers? What happens if we book and weather is bad -do we get a refund please ? Thanks for your help
A:Hi! We actually go to a part of the reef called Coffins Patch, we go here because John Pennecamp Park is about a 3 hour boat ride from where we are located on Mile Marker 61, just north of Marathon. This reef is only about a 30 minute ride from our docks. It is a protected part of the reef, just like John Pennecamp, and it is fairly shallow, which is perfect for kids and guests who have never snorkeled before. We only go to this one spot so you will have approximately an hour and a half to snorkel, so you can go at your own pace. If the captain calls the trip due to bad weather, we do not charge, but it has to be captains call in order to not get charged the full price. A:Hi, We do offer the Jet Lev which is an awesome experience! The pricing is as follows: $249.00 Instructor controls your actual experience $349.00 You control We offer this 2x daily at 10AM and 2PM and we can take up to 4 ppl at a time. Mason Rostad asked :Activities Q:Is spearfishing allowed around this resort? And do you have someone who takes people out on spearfishing excursions?
A:Spearfishing is allowed in certain areas of the reef which is located just a few miles off shore. As far as spearfishing excursions you may want to contact Dive Duck Key (the dive shop at Hawks Cay Resort). You can reach them by calling the main line (305)743-7000 then asking for the Dive Shop. A:We have two 22' and one 18' Grady White fishing boats. We also have a 17' Boston Whaler. They are all center counsel boats. We rent by full day (8:30-5:00) or half day (8:30-12:30 or 1-5). Let us know if you would like to make a reservation! You can reach us at (305) 743-0145. WaterSports Crew :)

A:Kevin, unfortunately we do not offer any sail boats for rent. In our fleet, we have a 17 foot Boston Whaler, 18 foot Grady White, and two 22 foot Grady Whites as well. These all are center consol motor boats with different size engines. If you would like to reserve one of these please call our office at 305 743 0145 to make a reservation! You can also check through other boat rental businesses in Marathon, FL to check on their fleets and what they offer.

A:We do offer guided jet ski tours that are are 1 hour and you can take up to 3 ppl on the jetski. We go about 15 miles so you will get to see alot of the surrounding island. Please call 305-743-0145 if you are interested in making a reservation. Thank you. your sundance watersports team

A:Hawks Cay is not considered an all inclusive resort. If you call 305 743 7000, they will be able to fill you in a little better with the details of the resort. John Carey asked :Snorkeling Q:Hi, We would like to go snorkeling with just my wife and our three teenagers. Do you have someone who could drive the boat to the good snorkeling areas for about 3 hours? I understand this would be expensive, but we want a relaxing snorkeling experience, and I don't know if I am capable of finding a good spot, and anchoring the boat, etc. We would like to go on Sun. A:We have a couple options with snorkeling. We have our 65' long power catamaran, 'Blue', that we take to the reef daily. If you would like to rent a boat, we have several boats available, but we do not provide a captain. If you would like more information please call our office at 305 743 0145. A:We run our snorkel trips to a reef by the name of Coffin's Patch. It is the closest protected reef we have to us. We run 3 hour trips, with an approximate 30 minute boat ride out and back in. A:We run sunset cruises every day, weather permitting of course. We change the time of the cruise to the time of the actual sunset so if you call our office at 305.743.0145 we can give you more details about the prices and times of the cruise closer to that point. Daisy L. asked :Jetski Driver Rules Q:For Jetski rentals it says; "Must be 22 years or older, or 18 with boater’s safety card to operate solo. Any age may ride along." Can the boater's safety card be from any state? My kids have one issued in Texas. Will that be sufficient?
A:If they are under 18, even with a boaters card they are only able to ride along. If they are 18 or older the boaters card must be nationally recognized, which means it will have the abbreviation NASBLA somewhere on the card. If it does not show this, they will have to get a Florida State boaters card. Every state has different rules and regulations of their waterways, this is why we have this rule. Tara asked :parasailing Q:My family will be vacationing at Hawks Cay next week, arriving on the 20th. We have scheduled a snorkel/snuba adventure as well as a dolphin encounter. I am also quite interested in scheduling tandem parasailing for my daughter and I. Do I need to schedule this ahead of time like the previous two or can I schedule this when we arrive? Also, what times does the parasailing take place? Thank you!!
A:Hi Tara, We are so pleased that you’re excited about your trip to Hawks Cay. We do recomend that you make a reservation ahead of time for all of our activities as space is limited. Also, we like to ensure you get to do the activity around the time of day you want. As far as parasailing, we run every hour on the hour from 9-5. Brooke Davies asked :age limits Q:Thinking about bringing my sons to to Sundance Watersports. They are 14 and 17. Can they rent jet skis, jet packs and segways?
A:Greetings Brooke, Thank you for your interest with Sundance Watersports. For Jetskis our age limit is 18 to 21 with a safe boater card, or 22 or older to operate the jetski on your own. If they would like drive the ski, they can operate with a parent or guardian aboard. Our age restriction for the JetLev is 14, so they can both do that. They can also participate in our Segway tour.
