If the essence of the Florida Keys is water, SCUBA diving is the essential activity. Certainly, you can plan SCUBA vacations in other destinations, but nowhere else is the reef so accessible, so suited for both novice and experienced divers, than at Hawks Cay Resort on Duck Key.

We make it easy to plan diving vacations that feel like “everybody” vacations, ideal for veteran and aspiring divers vacationing with family or friends who may be at different experience and interest levels. Beginners can get their feet wet in an intro class that never leaves the resort’s heated pool; then decide if they wish to pursue additional training. Advanced divers can choose from a variety of programs, including nitrox and rescue certification, navigation and deep-dive electives (as part of our advanced certification course) and specialty excursions such as lobster-hunting and spear-fishing. We also offer refresher courses and check-out dives for divers who are between levels. All of our instructors are certified professionals, eligible to certify students to PADI, NAUI and Universal Referral standards, and all of our courses include training materials, dive gear and supplies you’ll need to complete them.

Travelers ages 8 and up can accompany you on our dive boat, the Seafari, to launch their own SNUBA diving adventures. Traveling companions of all ages may choose simply to enjoy the cruise – anticipating the stories and photographs you’ll surface with.
When it comes to SCUBA diving vacations, what will you choose? To log your first dive – the one you’ll never forget – with the help of our resort course (which teaches you to dive in a day) or as part of our full Open Water Certification Course? How about a guided spearfishing trip to land grouper, snapper or hogfish? A lobster hunt with a sweet ending? (Hawks Cay Resort chefs are happy to prepare any lobsters you net for a post-dive repast.) Or our most popular dive – exploring the reef just five miles offshore? While seasoned divers roam the reaches of the reef, amateurs won’t be disappointed: The reef begins in water as shallow as 20 feet, where SNUBA divers aren’t restricted and new divers can surface as often as they like, giving ample opportunity to show off the smiles that ensue when they discover their first staghorn coral and sea fans, or find themselves swimming in a cloud of yellowtails or sergeant majors.
All trips are two tank trips, and each dive on the trip is 50 minutes.
