corey asked: bait

Q: do you sell fresh ballyhoo, for trolling, and do you have some pre rigged?
A: Hello Corey! We sell a variety of frozen baits in the dockside store, including (but not limited too) rigged and unrigged Ballyhoo, Shrimp, Squid, Silversides and Thread Herring. We also carry frozen chum, live shrimp, crab, pin fish and an assortment of tackle supplies. Hope to see ya soon!

Phil asked: Nav Assistance

Q: Hello. Could you help us plot a course from Naples,FL to your Resort on board a 35' Cruiser. Any assistance would be helpful! TY
A: Phil, I am going to give you the same information I gave to Pete who is heading this way from Marco Island. There are 2 ways to get to us from the west coast of Florida, and weather may largely determine which approach you take to get to us. Our channel entrance is on Oceanside of Duck Key, so you can either run a fairly open water approach to Moser Channel at the 7 Mile Bridge on the western side of Marathon or you can follow markers carefully on the ICW and cross to the northeast of us at the Channel 5 Bridge. The ICW route requires more attention to avoid shallow water near the ICW, but is also the more protected route. If you cross to Oceanside at Moser channel, you will head back basically to the east in Hawk Channel. Find Marker 45 in Hawk Channel. From there take an approximate 30 degree heading to our channel entrance. If you come through the Channel 5 Bridge, find Marker 44 in Hawk Channel. From there, take an approximate 255 degree heading to our channel entrance. Our entrance is located on the south center of Duck Key and has EIGHT markers. The LAT/LONG about 100 yards off our entrance is 24 45 48 / 80 54 40. Call us on channel 16 on your VHF for verification of proper channel entrance and for further instructions on marina location. We will switch over to channel 10 or 68. We look forward to hearing more from you and to sharing our beautiful resort with you.

DM Breski asked: Amenities

Q: Do your slips have Cable TV & Wi-Fi?
A: Hello DM, All of our slips have cable hook ups on the power posts and Wi-Fi is accessible resort wide. Looking forward to you joining us!

Jared Mayfield asked: Fishing

Q: I am inquiring about a charter for first week of June. I am looking for a 1/2 day charter to the reef. Price doesn't matter but I am in Europe so I need an email confirmation with details so I can pre-plan my vacation. Please respond as quickly as possible.
A: Hello Jared, I emailed you the rates directly for you to review. We look forward to booking you a trip soon!

Pam asked: Fishing Boats

Q: Are there any boats available for rental?
A: Pam, we have both rental boats for you to captain yourself and a fleet of captained charter fishing boats (ranging from flats and backcountry skiffs to larger boats heading offshore and to the reef). Our rental boats are well equipped Grady Whites booked through Sundance Watersports at 305-743-0145. Charter fishing is booked by Saltwater Outfitters at 877-FISH-305. Either option is sure to provide great fun. The weather is beautiful and the waters are clear!

Lydia asked: fishing

Q: Is there bay shallow fishing too (prefer less deep waters)?
A: SALTWATER OUTFITTERS books flats and bay charters (shallow water) for us as well as reef and offshore charters. You can find information on our website, and you can contact the booking office at info@saltwaterexperience.com. or at 877-FISH-305.

Pete asked: Nav Assistance

Q: Could you help us to plot the best navigational course from Marco Island, FL to your resort cruising by water on a 37' with a 4' draft.
A: Pete, There are 2 ways to get to us from the west coast of Florida, and weather may largely determine which approach you take to get to us. We will switch over to channel 10 or 68. Please let us know when you are headed our way so we can reserve a slip for your vessel.

Lynette asked: Small dog

Q: We have a 27'6" express cruiser and are thinking about staying in your marina for a few days at some time in the future (staying on the boat at the dock so we'd require power and water). We have a small dog (15lb Bichon) and are wondering if you allow pets in your marina. We will not be needing a room in the resort.
A: Lynette, check out our Cruisin Critters Blog to see other dogs that love our marina! While dogs are not allowed in most of the resort area, many stay aboard in the marina. Your Cruisin' Critter will need to be leashed when off the boat, and of course, you will need to clean up behind your dog. We look forward to having you and your Bichon with us in the future!

Alec asked: Dock specs

Q: is the marina convenient for a sailboat 35' with 5' draft? and do you have long term dock rental. is the dock on the sea side or ICW side?
A: Alec, We are happy to accommodate Sailboats with drafts to 5 feet or slightly deeper. We do have a 5 foot hump in the channel that brings you from our Oceanside entrance into the marina, so you will want to go over tides with us when you narrow down your dates so that you avoid arriving and departing on dead low tide. We have monthly rates which include utilities and access to our beautiful destination resort. Please contact us with dates so we can discuss rates and availability. We are reached directly at 305-743-9000, option 2.

patrick brown asked: sailing

Q: do you rent sailboats and do you give sailing lessons. I am a beginner sailer and would like to get an open water certification
A: Patrick, unfortunately we do not offer sailing or sailing instruction at this time. Our only "wind-driven" instruction is Kiteboarding, and you can contact Aaron Osters at 305-942-9635 for more information.

CORY O asked: Fishing Charter July 22-29

Q: Hello, I have a villa booked July 22-29. Can you please send me some different fishing charter options, I would like to see the different boats and prices available.
A: Hello Cory! We are looking forward to you joining us later this month! If you check your inbox you will see that I sent you the rate sheet and some additional information. If you have further questions please dont hesitate Hawks Cay at 305-743-9000 opt 1.

Matt Pettit asked: Docking/ Slips

Q: We haven't booked our rooms yet, but will be doing so soon. We have a 27 foot angler that we will want to dock there duting our stay. Do we have to pay a daily fee for the use of guest slips?
A: Hello Mr. Pettit, We do have a $50 back basin rate for boats that are non live aboard and require no electric. These slips are within walking distance to the hotel and pools. If you don't need to have your boat in the water during your stay we do offer a $25 per day trailer parking fee that includes access to our boat ramp for you to drop your boat when you need to. For reservations or more details please contact 305-743-9000 option 2.

Scott B. asked: Fishing

Q: I have viewed your great offer for military and I thank you for what you are doing. The question I have is about the fishing charter, is there are military rate for that also?
A: Brian, we look forward to seeing you this fall. You will absolutely love our resort and all the activities we offer! You need to contact Saltwater Outfitters for specific information about our fishing charters. You can send your questions to info@saltwaterexperience.com or call them at 877-FISH-305.

Scott asked: Boat Ramp

Q: I am planning a trip in the area mid August 2010. I have stayed at Hawk's Cay in the past. I was wondering if I am not staying at the resort if I can use the ramp and park my vehicle/trailer for the morning/early afternoon? Thank you.
A: Scott, As you know, we have a great double-wide paved boat ramp. Our boat ramp is available for non-resort guest at a daily rate of $20. We have VERY LIMITTED daytime only trailer parking for non-resort guests at the additional rate of $20 per day. Daytime trailer parking for non-resort guests is on a first come first served basis and can not be reserved. Better still, if you stay at our beautiful resort we have both dockage and trailer parking available at rates that would include your use of the ramp.
