starkcare@hotmail.com asked: shower amenities
Q: We are renting a slip and plan to sleep on our vessel. Are there facilities we can use to shower?
A: When you stay aboard at Hawks Cay Marina you have access to our marina showers and restrooms 24 hours a day. We will provide access information at check in. And of course, when you stay aboard here, the best part is that you have access to our 60 acre tropical destination resort so pools, restaurants, tennis, spa and more at here for your pleasure. We look forward to your visit!
Leslie asked: Harbor villas
Q: We are considering renting a Harbor villa (Aug 3-10) and would like our 27' boat to be outside the villa. How does that work?
A: Leslie, you will love having your boat here in the water ready for you to hop in and head out to sea!
Your dates overlap the official opening of Regular Lobster Season, an especially fun and popular time to boat in the Keys, so you want to make reservations as soon as possible. Our reservations agents can book both your villa and your slip in our small boat basin. The Small Boat Basin is the non-liveaboard marina adjacent to the Harbor Village area and will book up quite quickly during all summer months. The lay-along dockage in that area does not have electric hook up, but you will find a hose hookup at each slip. Dockage in August in the Small Boat Marina will be sixty dollars/night plus tax and will include trailer parking and use of our paved boat ramp if needed. If you need marina shore power or want a slip closer to the Dockside Store and Dive Duck Key (for diving or Lobstering supplies), contact us at the Dock Office to book into the Main Marina.
Bob Davidson asked: Harbor Village slips
Q: Family is staying at Hawks Cay Resort last week of March (Harbor Village) - can I lease a space at one of the slips in the Harbor Village during the week? If not, what are my options? Thank you. - Bob
A: Bob, we look forward to sharing our beautiful resort and marina with your family. We do have slips our Small Boat Marina adjacent to the Harbor Village area for rent to Hawks Cay guests with non-liveaboard boats less than 32 feet LOA requiring no electric hook up. If your boat is larger or needs a power hook up, we can most likely accomodate you in our Main Marina. You can book your Small Boat Marina slip by contacting either the resort reservations agents or by contacting the Dock Office.
Sharon asked: laundry in the marina
Q: Hi, We are bringing a group for 3 days to the marina. Do you have laundry facilities and WiFi on or near the docks? Thank you. Sharon
A: Sharon, we have a coin laundry off the corner of the docks next to Sundance Watersports. We do also have a very good WIFI signal here on the docks. We look forward to seeing you and your cruising friends and to sharing our resort and marina with you.
anderson8873@bellsouth.net asked: Portable Propane Grills
Q: Are portable propane grills permitted. The type that mount in a stern fishing rod holder?
A:
We offer stationery charcoal grills in an approved area on the brick pavers off the corner of the main marina. This is the only area in which you are allowed to grill on Hawks Cay property. If your grill can be removed from your boat, you are welcomed to use it in the approved grilling area where you will also find picnic table and a happy group of boaters sharing the "chillin' and grillin' experience!
John asked: Can I bring my waverunners
Q: I have a weekend stay planned and wanted to bring my waverunners. Are Waverunners allowed? Thanks!
A: You can bring your waverunners and either dock them in our Main Marina or register them for trailer parking. Both the dockage rate and the trailer parking rate will include use of our ramp. We look forward to having you with us.
Jo-Anne Margolin asked: Scuba and Snorkel Trips
Q: Do you offer snorkel and scuba diving trips and do you combine the two? My husband scuba dives and I snorkel and we prefer to go on the same boat. Please advise. Thanks.
A: Thank you for your inquiry. While we do have a great trip run by Sundance Watersorts that specializes in snorkeling only, if you have both divers and snorkelers in one group, Dive Duck Key will be happy to accommodate you. You can view more details about both Sundance Watersports and Dive Duck Key on our website.
ron asked: mean low watrer depth
Q: what is the mean low water depth at docks and appoach to docks
A: Our controlling depth is 5 feet due to an area in our channel which is 5 feet at mean low, hard bottom. Having said that, we do have a good many boaters that draw up to 5'6'' who discuss tides with us and then make the decison as to the safety of coming in on the high half of the tide. Our normal tide range is 1 to 1.5 feet. Please feel free to contact the dock office to discuss particulars about your vessel and the tides on your travel days.
Richard Harvey asked: Marina ramp and trailer
Q: We have a townhouse reserved in Hawks Cay for the week of August 4-11 (lobster season opening). I'm bringing my 22 ft boat and looking at storage options. Can I store it on a trailer and use the ramp when needed? How much to store it on the trailer? How much are the slips for a 22 ft boat? Are slips available at that time? Is there typically plenty of trailer storage available during lobster season? Is there a place to rince the trailer and boat after use?
A: Regular Lobster season opens Auguest 6, so dates surrounding the 6th book heavily. Our small boat basin will be $60 per night plus tax including trailer parking and use of the boat ramp. We also offer slips in our Main Marina starting at $3.50/foot/night based on a 30 foot minimum, but some discounts can be applied. For those who chose trailer parking or cannot get a slip, we now offer for Hawks Cay guests only a premium trailer parkingarea near the ramp and our regular trailer parking. Both are on a fisrt come first served basis and require payment.
Brent Bailey asked: boat slip for guest of resort
Q: hi, we will be staying in an island king room in September. i was considering trailering a 17ft boat to use during our 3 day stay. what would be the cost for the boat and trailer for three days? thanks!
A: Brent, September is an awesome time to boat in the Keys because the weather is great, and you will have the seas much more to yourself! You will most likely want to book a small boat basin slip at $60/night plus tax including in-water dockage, trailer parking and ramp use. That way, your boat is ready for you to just hop in and head out for a day's adventures. We do also offer trailer parking without a slip for resort guests at $30/night plus tax covering your trailer parking and ramp use on a space available basis. We look forward to seeing you in the fall!
Dave asked: Water route
Q: Coming from Naples on the Gulf side, where do I cross under US 1 on a 32' INTREPID with bridge clearance of about 12'?
A: The 2 most clearly marked cross overs with highest vertical clearance are Moser Channel at the Seven Mile Bridge on the west end of Marathon and Channel Five Bridge connecting lower Matecumbe and Long Key. We are about 7.5 miles east of the Channel Five Bridge, so that is the closest cross over to us, but on nice days, many boaters like to run more open baywaters to Moser Channel.
Corinne Albiero asked: ramp use/ parking for trailered boat
Q: we have reservations April 27-29. We have a small trailered boston whaler we are bringing, we need to find out about parking & ramp usage. We would like both
A: Corinne, you have 2 options. As long as you are staying in a room or villa that is part of Hawks Cay's rental program, we can offer you dockage in our Small Boat Basin at a rate of $60/night plus tax. The rate includes an alongside slip with no power, trailer parking and use of our very nice paved boat ramp.
Space is limitted, so book quickly! If you prefer trailer parking only and have a Hawks Cay unit booked, the rate is $30/night and includes use of the ramp as well parking for your boat and trailer. Trailer parking only is on a space available basis. We look forward to sharing our beautiful resort and surrounding waters with you!
Morgan asked: Docking
Q: Is it possible for me to dock my boat but not stay in a room? Could I just stay in by boat every night instead of paying for a room? What would the fee be, then?
A: Morgan, you can definately stay aboard in Hawks Cay's Main Marina and enjoy the resort's amenities. Our basic rate this time of year is \$3.50/foot/night plus resort fee and tax, but if you confirm by giving us a deposit your stay by February 14, you can take advantage of our 14% discount for a stay of 2 or more nights. That's a great rate of \$3/foot/night plus resort fee and tax on a Main Marina stay of 2 or more nights. Check our blog for more details.
Keith Packey asked: Boat Rental Rates
Q: Are the fishing boat rates (i.e. Final Final) per person or for the boat during the time period? Thanks
A: Our charter boats are priced for the entire boat as private charters. You will however notice that 2 of the Backcountry boats are priced for 2 but can take a third for an addional fee.
While we find that most anglers really love the special experience of a private fishing charter with the crew working just for them, we do keep a split charter board at the marina for guests who hope to join other anglers to book a boat.
maryjo asked: boat rental
Q: do you need a boat license to rent a boat for part of the day?
A: Sundance Watersports, our boat rental company, requires that you have some boating experience, but there is no license required at this time.
