2010 SAILFISH OPEN TOURNAMENT RESULTS IN A PAYOUT OF OVER A QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS

The Second Annual Sailfish Open Tournament and the second leg of the 2009-2010 Sialfish Pro Series concluded Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Hawks Cay Resort.  A total of 132 Sailfish were caught and released during the two-day world-class tournament hosted by Executive Adventures and Hawks Cay Resort, with a total purse payout of over a quarter million dollars cash winnings.

Despite the below average temperatures for the Florida Keys, team Vitamin Sea Too battled for 18th place on Friday with two releases.  Owner and Captain Tim Maddock and his crew secured the overall win on Saturday with nine releases for eleven releases overall and took home $108,995 in total winnings.

Team The Natural, sponsored by A Bait Above and captained by Reese Lewis, took first on Friday with six releases, and secured second overall on Saturday with three releases for nine overall, taking home $15,000 in total winngs.  Team Sandman, owned by Sandra MacMillan and captained by Neil Orange, Jr., moved their way up the standings on Saturday by releasing three sails, with five being released on Friday; they took home $47,145 in total winnings and secured third place overall.  Team The Office (Office Party), owned by Paul Cook and captained by Les Achilles, released six sails on Friday; yet they only released one on Saturday.  They took home $33,637.50 in total winnings and secured fourth place. 

Coming in behind team The Office (Office Party), team Get Lit, owned by Kitt Toomey and captained by Quinton Dieterle, took fifth on Friday with five releases and secured fifth place overall with two releases on Saturday.  Behind team Get Lit was team Main Attraction, chartered by Ed "Cookie" Rice and Bruce and Pam Borring and captained by Marty Lewis, and team Reel Tight, owned by Jim Lambert and captained by Eddie Hubbert. 

In addition to a weekend of world-class fishing, participants enjoyed VIP parties offering gourmet cuisine, top-self open-bars, live entertainment and a custom-made Iona Crystal trophy for the first place winner, all in an intimate dockside atmosphere at Hawks Cay Resort.
