The Turtle Hospital

The Turtle Hospital opened its doors 1986 with four main goals: 1) rehab injured sea turtles and return them to their natural habitat, 2) educate the public through outreach programs and visit local schools, 3) conduct and assist with research aiding to sea turtles (in conjunction with state universities), and 4) work toward environmental legislation making the beaches and water safe and clean for sea turtles.

The Turtle Hospital (Hidden Harbor Marine Environmental Project, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation. The Hidden Harbor Motel provides the space and buildings needed to house and care for the sea turtles. The Turtle Hospital offers Guided Educational Experiences to the public daily 7 days a week. Beautiful summer days at Hawks Cay..... August 7, 2012

Yesterday afternoon we had clean green water, about 50ft of vis, the water temperature is warm warm warm, and it was FLAT CALM with zero current. Our SNUBA divers had the pleasure of diving with 5 friendly dolphins, who played around with us in the water for a little while before moving on.... really awesome experience!

We have an amazing All American BBQ at the resort on the 4th, from 6-9pm followed by the best fireworks in the Keys! Its a day full on non stop fun, sun and of course water activities!!! We were very close to selecting Cheeca Lodge when Rich Tudor suggested that we take a hard look at Hawks Cay and I want to thank him for that by way of copy of this email!

Also, Michael Connolley and all the staff were most accommodating and thorough and they should be congratulated.

As someone who has hosted meetings like this for over 30 years, I know the good and bad and you should be honored to know that this was a great meeting, at a great location with a great staff!

Just a note from our friends at Dive Duck Key..... January 5, 2012

We at Dive Duck Key were very pleasantly super busy over the holidays, and the fantastic weather helped us get full boats off the dock every morning and afternoon. Despite it being a little breezy on Tuesday, we are still enjoying unbelievably good conditions on the reef. Today we had 60ft of visibility and less than a foot sea. While the air has been a bit colder than we are used to, our divers and SNUBA divers have been very comfortable in the water with the wetsuits we provide them. We are starting to slow down, and have spots to fill on the boats so PLEASE feel free to pass the word along. It is very rare for us to have such great visibility and calm seas this time of year. We are running our usual SNUBA Pool Party at the main pool tomorrow morning so help us direct guests that way!

Joni, I want to personally thank you for your incredible generosity in setting us up this past week. We had an amazing time. The seas calmed down for us mid week so we were able to hit the Marathon Hump and catch a few nice blackfin and durado's. Of course the kids favorite thing was the lagoon and pool. Not to mention the running around they are able to do without us having to watch them 100% of the time. Of all the boating that our family has done over the past few years, from Boca Grande, Cabbage Key, Captiva, Sanibel and all the way around to Vero and Stuart, Hawks Cay is definitely our favorite place. Great Time for the Keys March 28, 2011

Sometimes I wonder why anyone would go anywhere else but Hawks Cay for a vacation? There is really something to do for everyone.....yes, we are close to famous beaches like Bahia Honda.....and yes, the fun nightlife of Key West is just a short drive west (seems strange--doesn't it?) But Hawks Cay is paradise and if you don't believe it, come meet us around 4pm at the Marina Village, grab a cold beer and watch the boats pull in with their catches. Life is good.....where are you going next?

The Last Resort Filming at Hawks Cay with George Hamilton! December 16, 2010

This week we are the Hollywood of the Keys! Not only did we play host to a certain reality TV show but we also are hosting a second film crew filming a pilot for a sitcom set in.....the Florida Keys! Starring George Hamilton and a host of other characters, we are having a blast!

Exciting Return to Hawks Cay June 17, 2010

More than 12 years ago I was Director of Sales here at Hawks Cay, and have returned for my second Tour of Fun! Some will remember the old days of the Resort, when turquoise and pink were predominate everywhere – and our "resort pool" was a huge rectangle! If I could love it then—imagine what it must feel like now after extensive renovations! Even more exciting is the camaraderie we all feel putting together the guest experience – our new and improved website is just one example. Our goal is not to list how many square feet of meeting space we can offer our groups – or display a laundry list of activities – that's not what makes an event memorable. We want to share with you the Hawks Cay Experience – even before you arrive!

I hope we have provided you with the tools you need to plan your next event. Take it from John Rubsamen, Convention Manager with SmithBucklin Corporation, "What an amazing resort! I can't thank you enough for a wonderful stay and a great time on our tour and dinner. We had a blast! What a treat!
