Every Friday from 9am-11am at the main pool we offer a Free Pool Party. Come try SNUBA for free. We'll even take your picture underwater and send it to your email as a fun way to remember the experience. No reservations are necessary. Just show up anytime between 9am and 11am and try breathing underwater. Note: Weather permitting Check the Play at the Cay as sometimes we have additional Pool Parties during the week. -

Advanced Open Water Divers!11/20/2012
Congratulations to our newest Advanced Open Water SCUBA Divers! These guys added to their SCUBA diving training by doing a deep dive on our Thunderbolt Wreck dive, catching lobsters on our reef, and turning their dive lights on for a night dive! -

Great Winter Conditions11/17/2012
Had another wonderful dive on the Thunderbolt Wreck yesterday. We had 80+ft of visibility and 80F water. There is another Thunderbolt Wreck dive scheduled at our Marathon Shop on Sunday Nov 18th at 8am. Give us a call if you'd like to join us. Combine your dive trip and dolphin show all in one!09/11/2012
Often dolphins will play in the wake of boats. The Seafari's large wake seems to be particularly attractive to the playful dolphins... these guys played in our wake almost all the way out to the coral reef where we were headed to dive. They got so close we thought they might jump right into the boat! -

Great Summer Time to Book Winter08/21/2012
We had a GREAT summer here at Dive Duck Key at Hawks Cay Resort. Thousands of SNUBA divers participated with us this season and hundreds of divers were certified and enjoyed our beautiful reefs. Lobster season was tons of fun with loads of people catching their limit of 6 lobsters per day. If you haven't booked your winter get away, now is the time to do it. Call 877-FUN-DIVE. World's Newest Certified Diver06/22/2012
Congratulations to Jake who has done an exceptional job with his certification class. He not only Aced his written exam, but was unbelievably good with his water skills too!!! Jake came all the way from CA to complete his open water certification at Dive Duck Key. Jake did a resort scuba course when he was ten and chose to come back here to earn his cert. Thunderbolt Dive on Saturday!!!05/30/2012
Come out and dive our spectacular wreck off of Duck Key! The Thunderbolt is an old WWII mine sweeper that was sunk back in 1986. It lies upright in the sand, and is in perfect condition. It has been underwater long enough to attract many sizes and species of fish- check it out for yourself! -

The Trunkfish: This week's Featured Fish on Dive Duck Key's Reef04/27/2012
The Trunkfish has a different type of scales than most fish. Their hexagonal scales are more like plates, and fuse together to make a solid, bony outer-surface that is like body armour. Trunkfish, which move slowly as a result of their boxy shape, protect themselves from predators by secreting a ciguatera toxin from their skin when touched. Larger fish (even nurse sharks) can die from eating the Trunkfish. Fortunately for divers, it is only poisonous if ingested. The Trunkfish cannot hurt the diver when touched. We do not harm the fish when we touch them, as long as we are gentle. If you touch any fish with dry hands, you will often destroy their protective slime layer. You are less likely to do this if your hands are wet. The Trunkfish is one of 1200 species of tropical fish that inhabit our reefs! Our hearts weigh heavy today at Dive Duck Key with the news of the untimely death of Capt. Jose Wegebe. We had hoped to host Capt. Wegebe and his show Spanish Fly on a spearfishing trip on the Seafari in the near future. Capt. Wegebe was a supreme angler yet very conservative in his impact on our delicate ecosystem. We extend our sincere condolences to his family and hope that the seas are calm and the fish are biting in heaven. -
